Workshops can be proposed as side events of the conference. Organizers are free in their choice of the format. For example, a workshop can consist of panel discussions, interactive sessions, or invited talks. Organizers are expected to submit a description of the topic, the format they want for the workshop and their plans to advertise the workshop. The workshop proposals will be reviewed by the Conference Organizing Committee, and if approved, the Workshop Organizers are autonomous in setting up the program. Workshops can last half a day or a full day. The papers or posters presented during workshop are not reviewed by the Program Committee and therefore are not included in the conference proceedings. However, they may be submitted, e.g., to a suitable journal of the IEEE Sensors Council before or after the conference. If Organizers wish to define a topic and solicit papers that are to be reviewed, then Focused Sessions are the better format.
